"This family was a repeat client who wanted special Christmas portraits. I decided to create a Christmas fireside portrait. To create the image, I placed my studio flashes behind my fireplace set to provide directional light as if it originated from the fireplace. I added the fire and warm glow using Photoshop. I always meet with my clients prior to the portrait session to determine what is most important about their portrait. Given a better understanding of their kids, I am able to have fun with them during the session and capture their true personality. This extra time that I spend with them also helps me to focus creatively on things that they will like in their portraits - i.e. those special creative touches."
